Map to see that the nearby town of Aulla is
ideally placed to access both of these spectacular mountain
ranges.
The route formed by linking the SS63 east of Aulla, with
the SS445 which turns south east to parallel the coast,
bisects the two mountain ranges via the grandiose Serchio
valley.
This route and its plentiful side-roads provide many access
points to the Appennies to the north, and to the Apuane Alps
to the south. The coastal motorway, heading south from Aulla
and then south-east from La Spezia provides many additional
access points to the Apuane Alps from their southern side.
