The ideal
place for a perfect tuscany villa holiday - a beautifully
restored historic farmhouse, set in the
unspoilt countryside of
Lunigiana | p>
One of the big attractions
of Tuscany is its great holiday climate. Weather information is
particularly helpful when deciding exactly when to visit this most popular part
of Italy.
Generalised Tuscany
and Lunigiana weather information is
provided in the paragraphs below and there are links to weather statistics and weather forecast sites at
the bottom of this page.
Tuscany
Climate
The climate in Tuscany is very
mild with little difference between the various provinces.
However, the coast and valleys are hotter in summer than the hilly
areas. Usually summers in Tuscany are hot with little or no rain.
Spring (April and May) and Autumn (October and November) are milder
and rainier, but there are still plenty of dry, sunny days. Winter
still has some sunny days but is usually wetter and colder,
especially at night. July and August are the hottest months. January
is the coldest month.
Lunigiana Climate
The
benefit of having the hills and mountains in Lunigiana is that
in high summer it is a little cooler than the hot spots of Tuscany.
Of course, in the valleys and at the coast there is little
noticeable difference. However, the temperature at altitude in the
mountains can be a few degrees cooler. This means that summer
walks and climbs are more
pleasant, and in the winter it provides the opportunity for skiing
and other snow sports.
Although
Villa Papvero is set amongst hills and
mountains its modest altitude of 254 metres provides it with a Lunigiana
'valley' climate.
Choose your Season Spring in Lunigiana can
be one of the most satisfying seasons for a holiday. Average temperatures
are warm and pleasant and the days are lengthening with up to 9 hours of
daylight. Although it can also be one of the wettest seasons, by May
rain is rare.
Summer in Lunigiana is normally hot and sunny
with pleasant balmy evenings, perfect for 'al fresco' wining
and dining.
Like Spring, Autumn in Lunigiana can be a good time to
visit, with warm average temperatures in both
September and October.
Winter in
Lunigiana rarely delivers really severe weather in the valleys, but in the
mountains there is plenty of snow, and the opportunity to enjoy it
at a number of local ski resorts. Here you can enjoy adventure in
the snow covered white mountauns under clear, blue skies. It
is truly beautiful.
